Nutrition Centre Initiative

The percentage of SAM and MAM children are higher than the national average. This makes it essential to have decentralised, community-based therapeutic management and nutrition rehab centres which will also serve as hands-on training centres for mothers and adolescent girls, the future mothers.

Swasthya Swaraj has initiated steps to set up these centres in 8 locations. In each location, children from 5-6 villages will benefit. The centres will be known as Gaon Poshana Gharos (Village Nutrition Centres) and will be run with the help of community nurses, Swasthya sathis and field animators and mother’s club members.
